Here is what one of our members has to say about the forthcoming Twitter space:

“During my second year at university, I came across some of my lecturers who had a plaque of Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Society of Nursing in their offices. The plaque indicated that they were members. It kept me wondering what it takes to be part of the society, but I was too shy to ask.

The only information I got before graduation was from a classmate who mentioned that one must be a first-class or second-class upper holder to be a member.

I would say my lack of adequate information has prevented me from exploring opportunities in Sigma Theta Tau International Honour Society of Nursing. That’s why I’m excited to learn more about them in this forthcoming Twitter Space event.”

History

In 1922, six nurses founded Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, today known as Sigma, at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, which is now the Indiana University School of Nursing, in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The founders chose the name from the Greek words storgé, thárros, and timé, meaning love, courage, and honor. Sigma became incorporated in 1985 and is a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) tax status in the United States. Learn more about Sigma’s founders. [Source: Sigmanursing.org]
